DataTools HowTo: Convert Only Part of the Data in a Field

Question:

When I map the data from one of my source fields to the target, I need to skip the the first 10 characters. Can the Data Loader do that?

Answer:

Use the Right() function in the RIFL expression builder to write an expression in the affected target field to specify how many of the rightmost characters you want written to the target field. For example, if you want the rightmost 8 characters from the source field to be written to the target field, the expression will look something like this:

Right([SrcFieldName], 8)
