Recapping two important Pervasive events – Metamorphosis 6.0 and IntegratioNEXT User Conference
Radio Integration offers you a "twofer" this month – two interviews with Director of Integration Marketing David Inbar, who talks about two important Pervasive events in Austin. The first is on Metamorphosis 6.0, Pervasive's semiannual
executive summit for ISVs, SIs, ASPs and BSPs; the second, on IntegratioNEXT, Pervasive's 2006 Users Conference. David recaps the highlights of each event, explains how to get some of the presentation materials on our Web site, and gives us a heads-up for the scheduled 2007 events.

Tech Tip
Using JOIN Designer to Source Multiple Host Stores
Many IT environments support simultaneous information systems throughout their organizations. An IT group may require a capability to simultaneously retrieve scalable volumes of data from these sources and process them within a single map transformation.
Map Designer readily allows a single connection to a source data store. However, when there are multiple source files or tables from diverse native locations (i.e. over one or more networks on disparate architectures) you can use Pervasive’s Join Designer to prepare them for transformation with Map Designer.
The Join Designer allows the user to specify the connection type and the location of a datastore. The type of location parameters are contingent upon and consistant with the data stores’ properties. Server, User ID, Password, table and other pertinant properties of the connector may be specified when the new source is added to a Join Designer View. The resulting view is then saved.
In Map Designer, the user need only specify a connector type of “Join Engine” and supply the name of the Configuration file previously created by the Join Designer. The pressing of the “Connect” button will retrieve the data from the local and/or remote locations. This data view is then ready for additional processing.
The Join Designer tool will support only a single record type per source. A column or field, common to each source, must exist within the intended data store; this allows Join Designer to specify all matching data rows. Finally, the physical or logical grants, privileges, firewalls and corporate policy can often effect the degree of both connectivity and selectivity required to access diverse stores.
The incorporation of Join Designer’s rich functionality into a map offers professional developers, engineers and consultants enhanced capabilities for accessing and processing heterogeneous data.
