Release 8.12 is nearing release date!

The General Availability release is expected on August 31, 2006.

8.12 gives you more connectivity and more support for the new CRM APIs:

• Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 connector: Makes both migrating data into MS CRM and integrating real-time systems with MS CRM a snap! You simply select MS CRM 3.0 from the list of 150+ connectors and enter your login credentials. From that point, you have full Create, Read, Update and Delete capabilities to all the business entities MS CRM 3.0 makes available through their .NET API, but none of the hassles of custom coding.
  
  
• Oracle Siebel CRM OnDemand 10 (formerly Siebel On Demand) Support. Pervasive now supports Create, Read, Update and Deletion of all Oracle Siebel CRM OnDemand business entities including custom entities.
  
  
• Salesforce.com 7.0 API Support: Pervasive now supports the most recent Salesforce API.
  
  
• Connector for Acucorp's Vision file system: Full read/write support of ACUCOBOL-GT Version 7 indexed or relative files.
  
  
• A new, rebrandable load file creator for ISV customers. Pervasive Business Integrator^TM and Pervasive Data Integrator^TM now include Easy Loader, a simple mapping GUI that ISVs can utilize to build wizard-driven load-file creators specific to their SaaS or packaged software applications' needs.
  
  
• A simpler Map Designer interface for single record type mapping. Our Map Designer interface has three primary tabs – source, target and map. We still support the feature-rich interface on the third "map" tab, but have also added the ability to toggle to/from an additional, simpler mapping interface.
  
  The simple mapping interface makes the job of mapping single record types (e.g., a CUSTOMER entity in a database to the CONTACT entity in Salesforce.com or Microsoft Dynamics CRM) much easier. All the complex transform events and source/target windows disappear and we simply show the target fields
  available mapping.
  
  
• SQL Server 2005 support: Including new datatypes introduced by Microsoft.

Use a 'dummy' discriminator to parse, recognize file with multiple record types

In Structured Schema Designer, files with multiple record types can be parsed. Then a discriminator field has to be set with recognition rules to recognize the different record types.

A file with multiple record types that has two discriminator fields can be parsed and recognized using a "dummy" discriminator. Here's a piece of sample data.

Notice that the first byte in every record is either a "1" or a "2". Also, note that in every record that starts with "2", the thirteenth byte is either an "A" or a "B", though the thirteenth byte in the "1" records has no significance. So, there are actually three record types in this data set, the "1" records, the "2A" records and the "2B" records.

To recognize these three record types, a user could set up a fourth record type that has as its first field a discriminator field that contains the first thirteen bites. Then, the user would set up recognition rules for the three record types (but not for the fourth "dummy" record type) using regular expression language. The rules would look something like this:

Record type "1" - regex 1…………
Record type "2A" - regex 2………..A
Record type "2B" - regex 2………..B

So the "dummy" discriminator contains both the first and the thirteenth bite, and the data in between doesn't matter for purposes of recognition. Look for more useful Technical Tips in future issues on how to maximize the value of your Pervasive Integration products.
