Need a high-performance, multi-threading Java engine to leverage your HPC multi-core hardware? Here it comes...

For many years Java architects have been provided with the J2EE standard as a framework to build high-performance web applications, but when it came to heavy-duty data manipulation, transformation and loading there's nowhere for Java developers to turn.

Dataflow addresses Java developers needs when the technology problem you are trying to solve includes one or more of the following aspects:

  • Large data feeds with records needing to be parsed, processed, transformed and written to one or more disparate target data stores
  • A need for the hardcore multithreading logic required to make full use of multi-core SMP hardware to be seamlessly provided by a Java data flow architecture
  • A requirement for a Java component framework that allows limitless source & target connector development (beyond simple JDBC) as well as component development providing custom data transformation & general processing logic
  • A 100% Java solution with wide platform and JVM support
  • A requirement for a powerful data processing system with a small footprint that is both easy to embed in your current software stack and easy to extend
  • A need for a highly dynamic programming paradigm that can easily adjust to run-time considerations such as schema changes, availability of CPU and memory resources, and the amount of data being processed
  • A very extensible Java framework that employs IOC (Inversion of Control) methodology that allows you to easily wrapper existing technology investments for inclusion in a highly paralleled, dynamically configurable framework
  • A powerful but easy to understand data processing system that allows you to begin producing highly scalable solutions within a short amount of time

If you are trying to solve tough data processing tasks that fit the abovementioned list, I encourage you to contact me to discuss your project. Please note that Dataflow's Beta release is fast approaching and we're only taking a limited number of early adopters.

Are You Really Prepared For a SOX Audit?

Public companies must provide evidence of internal control assessment, including the documentation of control procedures related to IT. Private companies also should consider assessing their procedures also, given the benefits that they may derive from better internal controls.

SOX requires companies to reduce and deter financial misconduct by:

  • Engaging in risk assessment
  • Establishing internal controls
  • Implementing control activities
  • Creating effective communication
  • Monitoring internal controls

Because the financial reporting process is driven by IT systems that often rely on data obtained from disparate systems across multiple business units, data integration takes on even more importance. Therefore, data integration also potentially becomes a high-risk activity. According to a recent report from AMS Research Inc.: in the U.S. alone, businesses will spend 6 billion dollars on Sarbannes-Oxley compliance in 2006. Over one-third of that money will be allocated towards technology. And there's a very good reason why.

When custom code has been used to implement data integration solutions, businesses can be left open to possible audit exposure. Each custom-developed interface can potentially be written in a different programming language, employ multiple technologies, and include varying degrees of documentation. And with SOX audits being annual events, having repeatable, reliable, transparent processes are the key to an on-going, sustainable system of internal controls.

Pervasive Business Integrator provides an exceptionally strong framework for the risks associated with SOX technology-related requirements and data integration. This single, robust platform can minimize your risk by reducing your reliance on custom code with an infrastructure that can be easily documented, provide audit proof of all sources and targets, and is highly reliable.

With the right integration tool in place, you can be most assured that your compliance will hold up in the event of an audit. If you're still weighing the pro's and con's of building an integration solution in-house or buying a packaged integration software application, you might find the 'Build vs. Buy' white paper a resourceful read. Overcoming the Achilles Heel of Data Integration

If the data quality isn't assessed before migrating or integrating into a CRM system, the initial investment costs can escalate and the implementation time can increase dramatically.

Join Dave Loshin, President of Knowledge Integrity, and Mike Hoskins, CTO of Pervasive Software, for a complimentary on-demand Web Seminar hosted by DM Review. This webinar will address critical issues in CRM implementations, including identity resolution, data migration and customer data integration. Pervasive will also present a variety of real-world CRM case studies demonstrating how its customers overcame the Achilles Heel of Data Integration with Pervasive's award-winning, cost effective data integration software.

Highlights include:

  • Understand how data is used, not just stored
  • Three implementation options for Customer Data Integration
  • Real-world case-studies of successful CRM and data integration projects

DM Review Recognizes Pervasive Software with Award

The award was given based on an annual survey of more than 75,000 readers regarding their rating of vendors and products they use in the workplace. DM Review readers represent some of the industry's most knowledgeable experts on data integration, business intelligence, analytics and data warehousing.

The Gantry Group, LLC, a strategic advisory and research firm, conducted an independent survey of DM Review readers from early May through mid-September 2005. The survey divided software solutions into nine categories and asked respondents to rate the vendors of those solutions based on the quality of the products in use in their organizations and their level of customer satisfaction.

"As the worlds of data, process and applications come together in enterprise environments, we feel it is important to recognize the vendors who successfully address the intersection of these three spheres," said Brian Cronin, publisher, DM Review. "The award recognizes the products and services DM Review readers have successfully deployed and rely on to achieve a competitive edge."

The Readership Merit Awards were announced in the December 2005 issue of DM Review. To view the complete list of award winners, click here to download the PDF.
