Using a Server Engine and a Workgroup Engine Concurrently

Chapter contents

You can use your Workgroup engine to access files on a remote file server through a mapped drive on either a Windows 32-bit server or NetWare file server.

You can also use the client software provided with your Workgroup engine to connect to other server engines on a remote machine as described in the following sections.

Using a Workgroup Engine to Access Local Files and a Remote Server Engine to Access Remote files

If you want to use your local engine for local file access and a remote server for access to files being serviced by the remote Pervasive server, you must change the settings in your MicroKernel Router. Use the Pervasive.SQL Control Center to change MicroKernel Router settings.

Accessing the MicroKernel Router Settings Through the Pervasive.SQL Control Center

  1. Click Control Center from the Pervasive program on the Start menu.
  2. In the Pervasive.SQL Explorer window, expand Local Client.
  3. Right-click on MicroKernel Router and select Properties. Login if prompted.
  4. Click Access. In the window to the right, ensure the following settings are enabled:
    • Use Local MicroKernel Engine
    • Use Remote MicroKernel Engine

    • Note
See Advanced Operations Guide for more information on changing settings using the Pervasive.SQL Control Center.
