The tutorials and program examples in this book illustrate how to use tools with which you are already familiar-such as Microsoft Access™, ActiveX™, and Visual Basic™, and Borland Delphi™-to view and manipulate Pervasive data, and build your own Pervasive.SQL-based applications. These tutorials show you how to access and utilize your existing data in new ways, such as performing ad hoc queries and creating custom reports.
If you work with Pervasive.SQL V8, Pervasive.SQL 2000, or any version of other Pervasive products, you have Pervasive data. However, there are many other software programs that use Pervasive data. They include diverse applications such as accounting packages, contact managers, backup software, Internet applications, and manufacturing and information management systems. You are likely to have Pervasive data on your desktop or in your company without even knowing about it.
