Installing and Configuring DDF Builder

The Pervasive.SQL database engine and Pervasive Control Center (PCC) must be installed prior to installing DDF Builder. Refer to the readme file provided with DDF Builder, readme_ddfbldr.htm, for the platforms on which the utility is supported.

To install the database engine, see the appropriate book for the product: Getting Started With Pervasive.SQL (Server Edition) or Getting Started With Pervasive.SQL (Workgroup Edition).

To install DDF Builder on a Windows machine:

  1. Download DDF Builder from the following location:
  2. http://www.pervasive.com/developerzone/sdk/ddfbuilder.asp

  3. Unzip the contents from the download file to a temporary directory.
  4. Run the file startup.exe.
  5. Complete the Installation Wizard.
  6. Optionally, delete the DDF Builder files from the temporary directory.

Configuring DDF Builder

No configuration of DDF Builder is required for Windows.

Main Components of DDF Builder

The DDF Builder setup program installs the following main components. All Java components are located, by default, in the PVSW\bin\plugins directory.

Uninstalling DDF Builder

The uninstall program removes all DDF Builder components from your system that were added by the installation program.

To uninstall DDF Builder on a Windows machine:

  1. Access Add/Remove Programs from Control Panel on your Windows operating system.
  2. Click Pervasive Data Definition File Builder in the list.
  3. Click the button to remove a program. The button may be labeled Add/Remove or Remove.
  4. Depending on your operating system, the uninstall program may begin the uninstall process when you click Remove. If so, skip to Step 8; otherwise, continue with the next step.

  5. Click Next.
  6. Click the Remove option (if it is not already selected).
  7. Click Next.
  8. A dialog appears that informs you the program is ready to begin removing DDF Builder. At this point, if you want, you may click Back to change or review any of the settings, or click Cancel to exit the uninstall program.

  9. Click Remove to begin the uninstall process.
  10. Click Finish when the uninstall program completes.
  11. Reboot your system if prompted to do so.
