This file contains the following topics:
Java Persistence API (JPA) is an object-relational mapping (ORM) framework, that is, it maps objects to relational databases. JPA provides the standard for object-relational mapping in the Java language. JPA can use either Standard or Enterprise Edition Java.
EclipseLink is one implementation of JPA. It is an open source project, and it works with a large number of databases or platforms. Actian Corporation has added PSQL as an EclipseLink JPA platform.
The PSQL database Platform file has been submitted to EclipseLink and is awaiting full promotion. For the latest information about its status and download, go to PSQL website and navigate to the SDK section.
Using JPA requires the JPA package itself (see Getting Started for download link), a Java installation, and an installation of PSQL v12.
To access the runtime files for the EclipseLink JPA access method, go to the EclipseLink website: http://www.eclipse.org/eclipselink.
The latest information about the status of PSQL JPA is available in the SDK section of the PSQL database website. The latest release of PSQL JPA is also available at this site.
Deployment of PSQL JPA requires configuration of the persistence.xml life. Download of PSQL JPA includes a sample persistence.xml file. The sample file includes a persistence unit demo, a class JPADemo, and a database simpleDB on localhost. Modify these values as needed.
The PSQL EclipseLink JPA platform implementation has certain limitations:
For all known issues for PSQL v12, see the PSQL website.
The Actian PSQL website offers many choices of technical support:
