Suaad Sait Appointed Vice President, Marketing and Michele Barbero Thompson Promoted to Vice President, Business Operations and Legal Affairs

AUSTIN, TEXAS—July 1, 2002— Pervasive Software® Inc. (Nasdaq:PVSW), a leading provider of embedded and Web database software that powers business-critical applications, announced today that David Sikora officially assumes the role of president and CEO, succeeding Ron Harris who has been appointed chairman of the board. With a keen focus on corporate growth, Sikora has strengthened his executive team with the appointments of Suaad Sait, Vice President, Marketing and Michele Barbero Thompson, Vice President, Business Operations and Legal Affairs.

Suaad Sait brings more than 12 years of high-tech experience from a number of key executive roles in marketing and strategy for high-growth software businesses. Most recently, Sait was chief marketing officer and COO of Liaison Technology, where he drove the product and marketing strategy, resulting in product adoption by a number of Fortune 100 companies. Previously at Motive Communications, Sait was the vice president of e-business marketing. He also served as vice president of marketing at Ventix Systems and was instrumental in its market strategy and execution, which lead to a merger with Motive. In addition, Sait held leadership positions at DAZEL Corporation (acquired by Hewlett Packard), InConcert Software and Xerox Corporation. Sait earned his MBA from the William E. Simon Graduate School of Business at the University of Rochester and his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the State University of New York.

Michele Thompson has 20 years of multi-disciplinary business, legal and executive management experience and has served as Pervasive’s director of legal affairs for the last three years, during which she has demonstrated significant corporate leadership and cross-functional business expertise. Before joining Pervasive, Thompson practiced law in the Austin office of a large Dallas-based law firm. Prior to law school at The University of Texas School of Law, she was a vice president at a financial institution holding company based in Dallas. Thompson received her JD degree with honors from The University of Texas School of Law and her Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance with highest honors from The University of Texas at Austin.
