Tech Tip: Is your application ready for Microsoft’s
Vista release?

In this month's Tech Tip, we discuss Microsoft's newest operating system, Windows Vista. This release consists of 6 different versions including: Vista Starter, Vista Home Basic, Vista Home Premium, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate and Vista Enterprise. As you can see, there are many flavors to choose from and it's critical that you evaluate and select the proper version for your needs. We will also review a few of the on-line documents that could help developers evaluate their application for Vista compliancy.

Windows Vista introduces new features including: User Account Control (UAC), a new Windows Explorer and a graphical interface called "Windows Aero." With new licensing requirements and the assortments of Vista platforms to choose from, Pervasive recommends you start by visiting the Vista Web site to review the various hardware and system requirements in order to choose the proper version. There is also an On-line Help for more information.

As you can see, there are many options and areas that need to be evaluated when users and developers are reviewing Windows Vista.
